You are invited to participate in a Council of All Beings day-long workshop that Claire will be facilitating.
Designed by Joanna Macy and friends, this workshop will help you shift from a diminished sense of self, to which our mainstream culture and its institutions have conditioned us, to a larger, more ancient and resilient sense of our true ecological self through our identification with other living beings, plant or animal, or even a feature of the landscape.
Participants will spend solitary time in nature, will create a mask to help them adopt the persona of another being, and use their imagination to foster compassion for all of our fellow beings with whom we share the biosphere. In doing so, we will open ourselves to resources of courage, endurance and creativity which are available to us in the web of life. We will play together, giving ourselves over to the moral imagination of the child within to become more conscious of the commonality of our fate as life on this planet. We will build trust among us and a deeper sense of community in preparation for taking action in defense of Earth and future generations.
Participants will be limited to 25. Please be advised that this workshop will be co-sponsored by Michigan Friends Center and will be publicized to their membership through their newsletter that will be coming out within a few days. If you wish to come, you may want to secure your spot soon.
What to bring: your lunch, something to sit on outside, a hat, sunscreen, bug repellant, your open heart…oh, and a swimsuit and towel if you wish to take a swim after the workshop is over.
